Newsletter November 2023

I'm Salimu Bwanali from Malawi.

I grew up with my grandparents since I started my primary school at Mikute Primary School in Salima.
Life was not easy to us because my grandparents were poor. They were trying to get some piece work from other people to provide me. They were encouraging me to work hard in class even though I had nothing to eat as breakfast. It was in 2008 when I met Vera Kleinstoll at Baptist Medical Clinic in Salima and I was in class 3 at that time. She sacrificed herself to be a part time teacher for me and a good number of friends. She was teaching us among other things basic English language and I was one of the best learners for her. This awakened my ambition and from that time I started doing better in class in my primary studies.

I finished my primary school in 2013 and I was selected to Chipoka Secondary School (the highest school) in Salima district. I continued working extra harder and I finished my secondary school education in 2017 and I got 20 points. In 2018 I attended the entrance examination at Malawi College of Health Sciences and I was selected to persue diploma in Radiography.

I asked Vera Kleinstoll if Kunyumba Trust could finance my studies. Many students struggled to pay school fees and it was a privileg for me to be sponsored by Kunyumba Trust. Life could be difficult for me without that sponsorship. It could even have happened that I would have had to drop out of school. Kunyumba trust did everything possible for me to attend college studies. They were giving me everything I needed during my studies. As of now I have finished my diploma studies and I have passed the final examination. My wish is to go further with my studies and I hope that it will happen. But first I have to earn some money now, though life will be tough to me for until I find job.

Finally, I would like to thank you Vera and all my sponsors for the good heart you have shown me. I really thank God and Kunyumba Trust for every support.

May God bless you all.
Kind of regards
Salimu Bwanali

Good afternoon you all my sponsors.
Congratulations to all of us, we made it. We have achieved what we wanted at diploma level. The graduation ceremony was on 3rd of November 2023 where I received my diploma in Radiology. I got all support during this ceremony from Kunyumba Trust. It was a wonderful day to me, my family members and Kunyumba Team as we enjoyed the day. This is just the beginning of my study carrier. I would like to go one step further to get a Bachelor's degree in Radiology to become Radiology Technologist. I applied for upgrading at Malawi University of Science and Technology which is highly lanked institution in Malawi, and I'm waiting for selection list which is to be out in due course. Kunyumba Trust helped me to get more sponsors who will sponsor me to get my bachelor's degree.
